The good thing about European film is that anything could be the theme of a film, this one is about chess, are you interested?
Imagine if a Hong Kong film on Chinese chess, would people go see? I doubt it. haha! That's why I love European films, 下棋悟出人生道理, great!

Helene is no queen. She works as a maid in a Corsican hotel while living a mundane life with her husband and a rebellious daughter. Story

法國電影節 「港島之戀」

【明報專訊】香港今年第38屆法國電影節，已舉行了兩星期。開幕電影是蘇菲馬素、蒙妮卡貝魯奇合演的驚慄片《不回頭》，現正公映。將會公映的還有《香奈兒的情人》，以及榮獲今年康城評審團大獎的《先知》，贏得法國七項凱撒獎的《Seraphine》。
今日明日後日是今屆法國電影節最後三天，這三天放映節目特別密集。
這裏介紹一下《我曾經愛過》（Someone I Loved），只是不過不失的偷情故事，但與香港有關，可以稱為「港島之戀」。
片中巴黎少婦發現丈夫有外遇，悲憤地帶着小女兒離家，跑到家公的鄉居。家公愛莫能助，就向她說出自己也曾有婚外情，一直不能忘懷。事發於十九年前1990年，他來香港洽談中國生意，與通曉中文英文的法國女翻譯結上情緣，此後幾年不斷在香港、法國和世界各地幽會偷情。
主演的法國老牌男星丹尼爾奧圖，曾演哥羅蘇提導演的小提琴苦戀佳作《今生情未了》（A Heart in Winter）和近年米高漢尼克導演的《偷拍》（Hidden）。不過他現在老了，在這新片憶述中年婚外情時難免超齡，與年輕情婦不大合襯。妙在香港成為男主角喜獲真愛的定情之地。
想起改編歐洲流行漫畫的法國奇情驚險娛樂大片《特攻闊少爺》（Largo Winch），更以香港為主要背景，把本港拍得很國際化很摩登，但數月前香港公映少人注意。今年亦有法國歌王尊尼哈利地來到港澳主演杜琪峯槍戰片《復仇》，很「畀面」港片，可惜成績並不理想。
無論如何，香港與法國的電影之緣不淺。此地不少資深影癡曾經很迷法國片（尤其迷杜魯福）。吳宇森受法國殺手片、盜寶片影響，《縱橫四海》就有法國外景。
法國也早已注重香港地和香港片，大家知道梁家輝演過法國片《情人》，法國導演阿薩耶斯曾與張曼玉結上片緣和姻緣，喜歡香港動作片的路比桑屢次與李連杰、元奎等合作。
其實與法國殿堂導演伊力盧馬合作多年的剪接師雪蓮，亦來自香港。

Pierre, a professional dancer, suffers from a serious heart disease. While he is waiting for a transplant which may (or may not) save his life, he has nothing better to do than look at the people around him, from the balcony of his Paris apartment. When Elise, his sister with three kids and no husband, moves in to his place to care for him, Pierre does not change his new habits. And instead of dancing himself, it is Paris and the Parisians who dance before his eyes.
